Record your contributions each month

Log what you've paid into your pension, ISA or Gift Aid each month so SavingTax can show how much relief you've built up.

Once you have a plan, tell SavingTax what you actually put aside each month. It compares it with your plan and shows how much tax relief you’ve built up so far.

Log a contribution

  1. On Home, tap Month. This opens Your month.
  2. Tap Log a contribution.
  3. Under Update Progress, you’ll see each option in your plan with two columns: Expected Amount (what your plan expects) and Actual Amount.
  4. In Actual Amount, enter the total you’ve added to each account this month, in pounds.
  5. Tap Save Progress.

Enter the total for the month, not just the latest payment. If you pay in twice, add the two together.

Change an earlier month

Use the month selector at the top of Your month to pick a different month. The button then reads Edit [month] contributions, so you can fix or add figures for that month.

Good to know

  • Tap the i next to an option to see exactly what it tracks. For example, the Personal Pension (SIPP) tracks what you pay into your SIPP.
  • You can only update options that are part of your goals. An option with no goal behind it is shown for reference and can’t be changed.
  • Contributions through your workplace pension come out of your pay, so they’re included automatically.
  • A tax year that has been locked shows Contribution update is locked. Use the unlock button on that screen if you need to change it.

Next: Track your progress.
